La Mode Enfant’s story goes back to a mom’s vision and her love for her children. Even though I came from a financially tough background, my siblings and I always felt like we were princes and princesses because our mother took time to make her kid’s clothes to show her love.
Our mother believed you should always look good when you went outside. To dress her kids well, she would spend countless hours sewing, smocking, and embroidering shirts, pants, and dresses for her five kids. Our clothes looked so nice, people would ask her where she found the money to buy them. It wasn’t money she had, but love for her children and the drive and devotion to help them look their best.
Years later, I did the same thing for my own children. I made a point to have my children understand that dressing well is a sign of self-respect and love for yourself. Even though I found myself in a situation where I could afford to buy my kids nice clothes, I felt like there was something missing. Having learned how to sew from my mom, I spent time smocking and embroidering outfits for my girls. After doing this for awhile, I learned that what was missing from the average machine made, off the rack clothes was the feeling of love and devotion that only something handmade can convey. I could tell how happy my girls were to wear clothes made especially for them, not for just about every girl their age.
After raising my children, some time passed before I had the opportunity to do the same for my grandchildren. While taking care of such sweet little angels, it came to me that every little boy and girl deserves to have that love and devotion you can feel from hand smocked and hand embroidered clothing. Thus, “La Mode Enfant” was born.
My vision was to reach every little boy and girl and give them that love, which meant that the clothes had to be affordable. This would have been impossible to do by myself and keep low prices. So, to fulfill this dream, I went in search of seamstresses that could help me help children all around the world feel well dressed and loved. The seamstresses I found share my love for children and want to help them feel like the royalty they are.
Together, we are happy to bring to you clothing made with care and love.
